Graph of ….. April 25, 2008

Filed under: Self Motivation — ashoknandagopichander @ 1:19 am

I’ve always wanted to  track myself as a performer where was I a few years back where do I stand right now. The reason is pretty simple this way I’ll know what went wrong and I can fix that.

Interestingly my inclination towards Personal Software Process has given me a thought process like no other.

So first I started out tracking my academic performances in school and college and here’s what I came up with….

Early schooling I was the best, in the early grades I was the best cause I never used to watch TV back then.

These days it’s only TV and  radio guess I’ll reduce that..

Here’s another graph more recent, with respect to the Tech certifications I trying to achieve.

This is more result oriented. Earlier I was focusing on the learning process that the result was shunned of the rightful glory but subsequently I took the certifications with the only objective of scoring Max that was evident in the outcome. So guess this is gonna be my approach to GMAT as well.

Struts 2 Gaining momentum March 18, 2008

Struts 2 is a cool framework. I’ve wanted to check it out for quite a while now and manged to do so last week.

Grabbed me a book by Ian one of the creators of Struts 2.0. Neat stuff man !! I’ve been having hell with JSF 1.2 with it’s lifecycle & all just want to move on and I guess this is where I board the Struts 2.0 train.

I did a trend search and I guess Struts 2 is gaining some serious mindshare

Anyways I guess happy days again, my best wishes to Struts 2.x team and the developer community.

This past week has been an incredible week of Tennis with the Dubai Open.

Lopez was on a role beating 3 of the top 10 seeds and that’s just the beginning. Yup Andy’s back to his winning ways. It’s a pleasure to watch this man play, some of the best tennis I’ve some seen in a very long time. Watching him play he is one of the strongest contenders for the crown no.1

I’ve been using the internet a lot lately to get myself organized in a lot of ways.

To enhance the process of learning, avoid unnecessary tedious repetitive work I’m using a series of tools to get productive at work and at a personal level.

So I’ve started to use to new tool called Todoist. It’s a neat tool & I’m looking forward to get the best out of this.

Personal Improvement Tools -1 February 17, 2008

I was watching NDTV, when I saw this rather interesting show about the HR trends. Another agenda of the talk was also centered around the individual and how teams need to managed.

Don’t remember much about the TEAM biz but there was this unique tool a self introspection kind of technique if I can call it that, was used to help the individual gauge for himself where he stands.

So the technique is to identify the good things we are currently doing, bad things that can be omitted and attributes that need to be look into.

So I went ahead and completed this exercise and here’s what I came up with.

personalimp1.png

So the exercise was good guess I’ll have to work on it with greater concentration and focus focus to really identify the problems areas.

Oh yeah !! before I forget there was also this nice quote that I remember from the show trust me this says a lot.

The People’s Car January 13, 2008

This week has been interesting for a lot of reasons. The test match stand off between India & Australia and Tata’s release of the Nano.

Yeah!! When I heard the name first I thought it was an MP3 player but turns out to be the cheapest car in the world. Looks pretty cool too.

The expected price on road is like 1.3 lakhs and that to me my friend truly is the people’s choice, the people’s car.

Hopefully the release of this car reduces the congestion due to 2& 3 wheelers in the city.

Tata has broken the trend, indeed this will be a turning point for the automobile industry in India.

3) Integration Strategy 3: Oracle Suite

Complete integration with the ORACLE Suite

Most definitely one of the most comprehensive products in the markets all the offerings from one provider. Cool stuff but for academic eval I may not go in for it. Comes with a complete implementation.

WebServices Learning Path-01 December 30, 2007

Filed under: WebServices — ashoknandagopichander @ 3:03 pm

WebServices - Learning it can be a little tricky especially with the host of all that implementations that are available from IBM, Sun, Apache….the list is huge. It’s difficult but hey it’s not like it can’t be learned that the challenge.

Proper docs and some much needed abstraction can go a long way.

I started out for this MS project of mine but that’s like reached a dead end, I’m reviving it.

First started out with the IDEs:

idea.png IntelliJ Idea well to be frank I ain’t got no idea how to start WS on this one.

netbeans.png Netbeans is cool. Saw some demos.

WebServices on Net Beans 5.5 Screen casts from Arun Gupta.
Referred sample code Bundled with NetBeans 5.5.

Sun’s implementation of web Services with JAX-WS rocks and the tooling is neat.

jdeveloper.png JDeveloper’s neat but to be frank I am not that comfortable with it like the way i’m on eclipse or NetBeans. But their documentation and OTN that their Dev Network is real neat. Guess I’ll check it out too.

eclipse.png My personal favorite and choice. To be frank I was all that impressed with the quality of webservices articles that were available at the community site. Guess I’ll wire up a couple of those. But the IBM DeveloperWorks rocks great collection of articles. Checkout the links for more.

Deploying Web services on Europa using IBM Developerworks. Article.
This is nice article to start of with all you need is Apache tomcat and Eclipse with WTP.
